Students who are in enrolled in an aligned CTE course for an Industry Based Certification such as Culinary or Welding, may choose to take a certification test at the end of the course. The IBC certifying entities must be approved by TEA (https://tea.texas.gov/academics/college-career-and-military-prep/career-and-technical-education/2022-2024-ibc-list-for-public-school-accountability-final.pdf) in order for the Industry Based Certification to be counted towards the district’s CCMR (Career, College, Military Readiness).

PEIMS codes Industry Based Certifications as passed, earned, or failed after each student attempt within an appropriate time as required by TEA. All earned Industry Based Certifications will appear on student’s transcripts. PEIMS verifies two weeks prior to submission that students have indeed met the criteria to be coded complete in alignment with the Certifying Entities requirements, and CTE Teacher support. Documentation of the earned Industry Based Certificate is kept in permanent folder of student and is recorded on the student’s transcript.
